(Phnom Penh): the closing ceremony of the General Assembly to review the work of Islamic education in 2015–2023 and to raise the direction of further work at the National Institute of Education was presided over by HE Dr. Nath Bunthoeun, representative of HE Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, on the evening of March 6, 2024.
At the General Assembly’s closing ceremony, H.E. Nos Sles expressed his satisfaction as the General Assembly’s organizing committee and discussed the General Assembly’s procedure for summarizing the outcomes of Islamic education in 2015–2023. Additionally, two days have been successfully completed under the theme of Islamic education reform in the digital context, raising the direction of ongoing work.
A number of related events have been planned by the General Assembly Organizing Committee, including a national school selection review, a cabinet composition competition (Friday address), an exhibition highlighting the accomplishments of Islamic education, and national winners.
He continued by saying that despite the past successes, the Cambodian Muslim Teachers Association still has a lot of work to do to support implementation and provide more fresh outcomes in accordance with the Royal Government’s reform strategy.
Simultaneously, HE Dr. Nath Bunthoeun said that the General Assembly can not only assess the outcomes of the entire Islamic education endeavor but also give stakeholders the chance to comprehend and keep taking part in the execution of education reform initiatives. Furthermore, the advancement of Islamic education has made a substantial contribution to Cambodia’s social and economic development.
In addition to the Cambodian Islamic Teaching Model Association of Cambodia and all other pertinent institutions that have previously co-sponsored the work plan in the field of Islamic education, His Excellency would like to praise the senior leadership of the Cambodian Islamic Association for their efforts with the team.
Kindly note that the aforementioned General Assembly will take place on March 5–6, 2024. Around 700 representatives of pertinent organizations and associations participated in person, and another 1,000 participated virtually. Islamic leaders from important ministries, institutions, education leaders, professors, and intellectuals from both the country’s capital and regions also attended the event.
